What are the LNAT and LSAT?

The LNAT is used by universities in the United Kingdom to assess students for suitability to study law at undergraduate level. Universities in the United States of America use the LSAT to evaluate students for graduate law school admission use the LSAT. Both tests are integral to securing a spot in your school of choice.

What is the format of the LSAT?

The LSAT is a standardised test required for admission to law school in the United States of America. It is a half-day standardised test that assesses reading comprehension as well as logical and verbal reasoning proficiency. The exam consists of six sections, with four scored multiple choice sections, an unscored writing section, and an unscored experimental section. Students have 35 minutes to finish each section. The test is delivered seven times each year, and students may take no more than three attempts each year. Upon application, all previous scores from the past five years are reported to schools, with schools using either the highest score or average score to rank applicants for admission.

What is the format of the LNAT?

The LNAT is required by a select group of premium universities in the United Kingdom prior to undergraduate admission to law degrees (LLB). It consists of two sections, namely, multiple choice questions (Section A) and an essay component (Section B). The multiple choice section is 95 minutes long, and requires students to understand and analyse 12 passages before responding to set questions. The essay component is 40 minutes long and requires students to respond intelligently to one of three essay prompts. The score is predicated on performance on the multiple choice section of the exam only. Students may only take the LNAT exam once per admission cycle.
